SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball plays a rare midweek game at Cal Wednesday at 3 p.m.

The Broncos dropped their series-opener at Saint Mary's on Friday and came back Saturday with a split.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-16, 3-6 WCC) have scored 57 runs so far this season on 18 doubles, four triples, and three home runs.

Ashley Trierweiler leads the team in average (.475), on-base percentage (.550), stolen bases and attempts (10-for-11), runs scored (15), and triples (2) to go with a double and nine RBIs. Emma Bickford is hitting .355 and leads the Broncos in home runs (2), doubles (5), RBIs (18), and slugging percentage (.565). she has scored five runs and added a triple.

Liyah Lopez has appeared in 12 games in the circle and started 12 with three complete games and a shutout while throwing 34 1/3 innings. Zoe Straughn has tossed 23 2/3 innings in nine appearances, including three starts and one complete game. Lauren Anderson has two complete games and has pitched 30 1/3 innings.

THE BEARS
Cal (16-12, 3-6 Pac-12) is hitting .277 and has scored 121 runs on 26 doubles, four triples, and 23 home runs.

Makena Smith's .354 batting average is tops on the team as is her 18 runs scored, six home runs, and 19 RBIs. Lauren Espalin is hitting .333 with 11 runs scored and eight RBIs and Mikayla Coelho bats .324 with 11 runs scored and five RBIs.

Haylei Archer's 64 2/3 innings pace the team and she also leads with eight wins and 47 strikeouts. Chloe Romero's 2.27 ERA is the lowest on the team and she has tossed 58 2/3 innings with seven wins.
