Santa Clara head coach Jon Wallace announced this week that Alyssa Anderson has joined the Bronco volleyball team. Anderson is a sophomore transfer from Villanova University and is a Hermosa Beach, Calif. native.
"Alyssa has joined the team as a setter and we are excited to have her. Her and Alexandra Palmer will do all of the setting for us next year. Alyssa comes from Villanova University where she had a great freshman year. She played high level volleyball in high school in Southern California and we are excited to have her."
Her freshman year at Villanova she played in 90 sets, starting 24 matches as the team's setter. She averaged 10.7 assists per game, collecting 959 on the season. She averaged 2.37 digs per game, .58 kills per game, .30 blocks per game and .36 service aces per game. She hit .336 on the season and led the team in assists and was third in digs.
At Mira Costa High School she was a three-year letterwinner and she was coached by Lisa Arce and Nancy Mason. She was named to three all-tournament teams at Durango, Torrey Pines and Santa Barbara in 2008. A CIF first-team selection in 2008, she was a 2009 prepvolleyball.com Senior Ace. She was Triple A beach rated and played for the Sunshine Volleyball Club where her team was fifth in 16-17s and were ninth in 18s.
