SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Playing No. 12 Michigan for the first time since 2008, the Broncos fell 12-5 in the Sullivan Aquatic Center Friday afternoon. The Broncos will look to improve on their 1-1 record in WWPA play tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Cal St. Monterey Bay. Later in the day the Broncos will take on Fresno Pacific at 1 p.m.
"Michigan is a very good team and I think they came out really strong in the first quarter," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur. "The main thing for us is to make quicker game time adjustments. Rather than being down 4-0 and making those adjustments, we need to do it earlier in the game in order to keep the game close. After the start, I thought the team played with some great energy and did some really good things."
The Wolverines jumped out to a 5-0 first quarter lead. However, Marina Allen struck back with a lob from the right side. Two minutes later, Allen struck again, this time scoring on a lob off two cross bars. Just before the half ended Eadington finished a shot from the four spot to cut the Wolverines lead to 7-3 at halftime.
Ashleigh Bandimere added a goal for the Broncos in the third with nice shot from the one spot. Burtness cashed in a goal out of hole set in the fourth for the final Broncos tally.
