Santa Clara ran another record-setting meet this weekend at the Woody Wilson Invitational in Davis, Calif. with the men's and women's 1500m school record taking a beating today.
On the men's side Robbie Reid broke the 1500m school record with a personal best 3:54.16 to finish in fourth place. Garrett Smith ran a 4:06.84 as a personal best in the 1500m.
"Robbie ran a really outstanding race in the 1500m," said Bronco head coach Tom Service "He wanted to get a record after set the school record last week in the 800m only to have John Laughlin break it in the very next race."
On the women's side, Whitney Porter also broke the school record, crossing the finish line at 4:39.57 to finish fourth. Noelle Lopez finished in 4:41.91, which is the third-fastest time in school history.
Both then ran an impressive double, finishing in the top 10 of the 800m in 2:21.08 (Lopez) and 2:21.81 (Porter).
Stephen Koch ran a personal best in finishing fourth in the steeplechase at the 9:39.13.
"Stephen is making a nice comeback after being injured," said Service.
Kazimir Brown was the silver medalist in the 100m, crossing the line at 12.30.
Anna Wheatley ran 11:18.66 in the 3000m steeplechase - but only four barriers were set up so it won't count as a school record (five need to be set up).
"After a long day of a number of races, the women's 4x400m relay ran an impressive 4:00.69," said Service.
