George Husack, on team: "I would give the game ball to the entire team today. Everyone competed well and we were very supportive of each other. I am proud that we responded so well after three tough losses to highly ranked teams. Also, it was our first win ever at UC Irvine."
Blane Shields, on his second set comeback: "I went away from what I was doing in the first set so he got up 5-0 on me. I got refocused at 5-0 and started being aggressive again and making sure that I was dictating the points. Once I got my rhythm back I think that I broke his will a little."
Shields, on beating Irvine: "We are glad to finish the weekend on a positive note. We lost to a very good Pepperdine team on Saturday, but we all came out today and got a big win. Winning on the road against a ranked team also shows that we are improving every match."
Robert Gallman, on clinching doubles point: "We dropped the first two points of the game when we were trying to serve it out. But Brian (Brogan) made some nice plays and I had a couple of good shots and we got the win. Winning that doubles point was a huge boost especially since a number of the singles matches were tight."
Gallman, on playing tough schedule: "Playing against the top teams gives you confidence because it lets you know that you can compete with anyone. We competed well against Pepperdine on Saturday and then we came out even better today and got a nice win against Irvine."
