Fresno, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's tennis team concluded play Saturday at the Bulldog Classic. George Husack's team saw two doubles team reach the semifinals of their bracket, while sophomore Kenzo Hirakawa-Wong advanced to the final of the consolation bracket. Freshman Jay Wong, who won the Bronco Classic last week, fell in the quarterfinals of the Flight "B" singles.

In doubles play Saturday, two Broncos pairs won quarterfinal matches. Hirakawa-Wong and Aneal Vallurupalli knocked off a team from Washington in a tight 8-6 match, while Tommy Hicks and Bobby Rasmussen knocked off the Brown/Ozurovich team from San Diego. Both doubles teams could not get past the semis, however, as Hirakawa-Wong/Vallurupalli fell 8-6 and Hicks/Rasmussen lost 8-5.

Hirakawa-Wong won an impressive consolation bracket semifinal over Ramon Perez of Sacramento State 6-2; 6-7 (4) (10-8), but a triceps injury forced him to withdraw from the final.
