Junior Blane Shields, on third set: "I came into the third set thinking that I had a clean slate and I needed to start quickly. I broke him early in the set and got out to a big lead, but he came back on me. I got a little tight with a 5-2 lead and he tied it up. However, I attacked him on his serve and got a break. That gave me some energy and I rolled through the last game to finish off the match. I thought I played good, strategic tennis today."
Sophomore Brian Brogan, on preparation for LMU: "Coming into today, I knew that I had a 1-0 lead in sets, so I wanted to take care of business fast and give the team a boost. There were a lot of close matches going on and I felt that I needed to win mine. We had a long game at 4-4 in the second, but I was able to break him. Then I just closed it out."
Junior Robert Gallman, on winning first match: "I felt good about winning my match on Friday. That gave us a bit of momentum coming into today. There were some windy conditions so it was a good win for the team. We need to take our confidence from this match to try and beat San Diego. We have to be firing on all cylinders if we want to win that match."
