TULSA, Okla. – Santa Clara senior John Lamble won again in straight sets in the ITA All-American Championships Qualifying Singles Draw on Tuesday, bringing him one step closer to the main draw. Lamble defeated Mississippi's Stefan Lindmark 6-3, 6-1 in a strong showing and advanced to the third round.

Lamble, the No. 14 seed in the qualifying draw, continued his quest to earn a spot in the main draw of the tournament. Lamble hopes to be one of the 64 singles players to compete in the main draw beginning Thursday, Oct. 3.

"I played pretty well today and executed on what I wanted to accomplish in the match," said Lamble. "I'm now looking forward to tomorrow's match."

After downing his first-round opponent 6-3, 7-6 (3), Lamble jumped ahead in Tuesday's contest with a 6-3 first set victory. The senior avoided another tight finish, however, taking the second set in dominating fashion 6-1.

Lamble, No. 64 in the ITA preseason rankings, will face Adam Lee from Wake Forest on Wednesday in a matchup of seeded players. Lee is ranked No. 31 in the qualifying draw and 86th nationally, and he beat his first two opponents 6-4, 6-4. In his second-round match, the New Zealand native topped No. 107 Connon Glennon.
