SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's tennis cruised to a 4-1 win over Portland in a West Coast Conference match on Friday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Broncos (10-7, 2-2 WCC) were in control throughout the match getting the doubles point and the first two singles matches to take a 3-0 lead before Christian Lerby clinched it.
Lerby had a hand in both the clinching points in doubles and singles.
Paired with Jack Pulliam on court two, the Bronco duo defeated Nicolas Ocana and Nikolas Tvedt 6-3 to get the Broncos on the scoreboard, 1-0.
Arthur Neuhaus was the first to earn the singles point with his win over Eleftherios Neos 6-3, 6-1 on court two. Mann Shah gave the Broncos a 3-0 advantage with his 6-3, 6-1 victory over Nikolas Tvedt on court four.
Portland (7-7, 1-2 WCC) got its point from Maxim Groysman when he took down Santiago Hinojosa 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) on court five before Lerby closed out the match.
