SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Playing against the strong side of WCC opponent and 37th-ranked Pepperdine, Santa Clara men's tennis showed their own strengths in their doubles matches but singles play did not play out as well.
The Broncos took their first loss of the day when Mann Shah and Santiago Hinojosa dropped their doubles match 6-3 on Court 3. The next two matches would prove to be more successful as two Bronco duos edged out wins. First, on Court 1, the duo of Arthur Neuhaus and Guillaume Dalmasso took down the 51st-ranked doubles team of Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel 7-5. The doubles point was then clinched by Jack Pulliam and Christian Lerby on Court 2, 7-6 (7-5).
As SCU moved on to singles play, the match quickly leveled out 1-1 when Pulliam fell to his opponent 6-0, 6-2 on Court 5. After dropping the first set in his match on Court 2, Dalmasso made up some ground in his second set but it did not prove to be enough as he fell to 105th-ranked Tim Zeitvogel 6-2, 6-3.
In a dramatic back-and-forth battle on Court 1, Lerby was unable to come away with a win over Daniel De Jonge (66) as he lost 6-4, 6-3. Following a tough loss in the first set of Hinojosa's match on Court 6, a comeback could not be mounted as he fell to his opponent 7-6 (7-2), 6-2; the match was then clinched by the Waves 4-1. Hinojosa's first set was not the only one to go to a tiebreak as Shah's first set was extended but was not won and Neuhaus won his first set by way of a tiebreak victory, the only set in singles play won by a Bronco.

The Broncos host LMU in the regular season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT. Prior to the match, five Santa Clara seniors - Nick Cmager, Santiago Hinojosa, Arthur Neuhaus, Jack Pulliam, and Mann Shah - will be recognized in a ceremony starting at 12:30 p.m.
