    Senior Stephen Hobbs and junior James Case were selected as Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-American honorable mentions this past Saturday when the ACWPC released their annual awards. It is the first time Santa Clara has had two men's water polo athletes selected for an All-American honorable mention in the same year.

    The No. 14 Santa Clara men’s water polo team closed its 2010 season with a 19-15 overall record and a third place finish at the WWPA Championships, defeating No. 11 UC San Diego today, 7-6, at Sullivan Aquatic Center. Sophomore Patrick Weiss led the Bronco offense with two goals in SCU’s first-ever victory over the Tritons while junior goalie Michael Wishart made eight saves.

    The No. 14 Santa Clara men’s water polo (17-14 overall, 7-7 WWPA) will host the WWPA Championships this Friday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Nov. 21 at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. Ten conference foes will converge on the Mission Campus, all looking for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. This will mark the first time the Santa Clara men’s team has hosted the WWPA championships. The Santa Clara women hosted the tournament in 2008.
