The No. 11 Santa Clara men's water polo team (13-8 overall, 6-4 WWPA) will host its first home game of the season this Saturday, taking on No. 9 UC San Diego (9-7 overall, 5-2 WWPA) at 1 p.m. at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Immediately following the match at 1 p.m., the Broncos will host an alumni game at 3 p.m.

Santa Clara, who has spent the entire first half of the season on the road, will not leave its home pool for the rest of the year except for one match on Nov. 5 at Pacific.

A win over the ninth-ranked Tritons this weekend could possibly vault the Broncos into single-digit rankings for the first time ever. Santa Clara achieved its best ranking, No. 10, last season.  A win would also help the Broncos build confidence leading into the WWPA Championships at the Sullivan Aquatic Center in late November.  As it stands, Loyola Marymount, UC Davis, Santa Clara, and UC San Diego look to be the top-four seeds for that tournament.

Santa Clara continues to be led by junior James Case's 40 goals.  Four others, seniors Stephen Hobbs and Mitch Klipa, and juniors Brett Zylstra and Daley Meistrell have broken the 20-goal mark.  Meistrell continues to lead the team in assists and has registered 42 thus far.  Meistrell also leads the team in steals with 26.  Hobbs has been a terror for opposing defenses, causing 34 ejections this season.  Junior goalie Michael Wishart improved his save percentage to .558, saving 179 of 321 shots.

UCSD has lost to two WWPA opponents, Loyola Marymount (7-3) and UC Davis (10-6) but picked up notable wins in a rematch against the Lions (7-6) and Pepperdine (8-7) at the SoCal tournament two weeks ago.  Brian Donohoe leads the Tritons on the score sheet with 27 goals while getting support from Bryce Madsen (18), William Brown (17), and Ryan Allred's (20) goals.  David Morton is the No. 1 goalie for UCSD and has stopped 123 of 254 shots on net for a .048 save percentage.
