Four Broncos Selected For All-WWPA Awards

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Four Santa Clara men's water polo players were selected for 2010 All-WWPA awards, as announced today by the conference. 

Senior Stephen Hobbs was selected to the All-WWPA First Team.  In the regular season, Hobbs finished third on the team in scoring with 34 goals and led the team with 43 exclusions drawn.

The Broncos' leading scorer, junior James Case, took second-team honors.  Case finished the regular season with a team-leading 54 goals, 22 assists, 18 steals, and 3 five-meter shots drawn.

Junior goalie Michael Wishart was named to the All-WWPA Third Team.  Wishart saved 268 of 500 shots (.536) and added 19 steals and 20 assists.

Freshman Tucker Carlson was selected to the all-freshman team.  Carlson scored 25 goals and drew 19 exclusions in his rookie season.

The Santa Clara men's water polo team will host the WWPA Championships this coming weekend at the Sullivan Aquatic Center and aims to capture its first-ever conference title to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships.
