SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After finishing the season at the West Coast Conference championships, Santa Clara women's rowing had two named the All-WCC team. Seniors Katie Bond and Molly Walker were the two Broncos to receive honors. It is the second year in a row Walker has been named all-conference and the first honor for Bond.

Walker rowed for the Varsity 8 all season and was also part of one of the Broncos Varsity Pairs boats.

Bond also rowed in every event as part of the Varsity 8 and took part in the Varisty Pairs.

"I want to recognize our two seniors, Katie Bond and Molly Walker," Santa Clara head coach John Wojtkiewicz said. "They showed real leadership through and through. They are the best examples of Bronco commitment, and I'm proud of the mark they have left on this team."

On the water at the WCC championships the Varsity 8 was able to sustain a competitive piece for the first half of the race, but couldn't match the pace with the more seasoned crews. The JV 8 put down its fastest piece all year.

"I'm proud of the tenacity and commitment of this team; we've had a lot of ups and downs this season, and almost all of it completely out their control," Wojtkiewicz said. "Those young women lived by the motto of 'keep moving forward' with each new challenge. Despite having only two returners from last year's Varsity 8 and four novices in our varsity lineup, we still managed to post a time that was the seventh fastest Santa Clara Varsity 8 in 19 years of WCC competition. That says a lot for our ability to 'keep moving forward'."
