Women's Golf Wraps Up Opening Day Of USF Intercollegiate

SAN FRANCISCO - Santa Clara women's golf graduate Claire Choi picked up right where she left off from last season in the Broncos' first two rounds of action of the fall, finishing the day tied for 18th at the USF Intercollegiate played on the Olympic Club Ocean Course. 

Choi, a 2021-22 All-WCC selection, had four birdies on the day as she turned in a 3-over 73-72--145. Fellow All-WCC pick Borina Sutikto, who led the program with eight top-20 finishes as a true freshman, is tied for 30th at 6-over 76-72--148. She shares the 30th spot with teammate and true freshman Audrey Brust (75-73--148) making her collegiate debut. 

Lauren Shew is tied for 36th at 7-over 75-74--149 while freshman Rachael Wang is right behind her in a tie for 38th at 8-over 76-74--150. 

As a team, Santa Clara turned in a 22-over 299-291--590 and currently sit in eighth place heading into tomorrow's final round of action. UCLA (4-under 564) and Cal (2-under 566) lead the field as the lone two teams under par. The Bruins' Ty Akabane is the individual leader at 6-under 68-68--136. 

The Broncos return to action tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. PT.
