BREMERTON, Wash. - Today did not go as well as Santa Clara women's golf hoped it would, especially after such an inspiring day prior, but the Broncos still have countless great moments and a notable season to be proud of.

The highlight of the tournament for the Broncos was undoubtedly the stellar play of Freshman Rachael Wang (73-72-75--220) who opened with a couple of rounds around par and dropped just a couple more shots today to finish tied for 10th at 4-over overall. The duo of Graduate Student Claire Choi (72-76-76--224) and Freshman Audrey Brust (75-72-77--224) both finished in tied-17th place at 8-over today shooting similar Final Rounds. Choi tied for best par-3 scorer this week going 3-under on the shorter holes and the two of them both improved on their front nine scores today by at least 2 shots to close their seasons out well.

Junior Lauren Shew (77-74-75--226) tied the low round today for the Broncos and had the most birdies of any Bronco in the Final Round at three. She only recorded one double bogey through the three rounds and ended up in 20th place at 10-over. Sophomore Borina Sutikto (D-71-78), who has had an incredible season of high finishes, didn't play in the first round but was able to contribute her sub-par second round score.

Santa Clara (297-289-303--889) dropped back today to finish in 5th place at 25-over at the WCC Championship and six shots behind San Francisco. Pepperdine took home the conference title for the fifth year in a row in Washington and produced the individual medalist as well, Kaleiya Romero (70-72-67--209), who was the only player to have all three rounds at or under par this week.

Looking back on the 2022-23 season, the Broncos finished in the top half of the field in five out of the nine regular season events they competed in, had six Top-10 finishes, and 12 Top-20 finishes. The top highlights of the year included Choi's tied-2nd finish at the Valley Invitational, Brust's solo 5th finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, and more recently, Sutikto's tied-5th finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. Despite a slightly lackluster end to the season, there are plenty of moments to spotlight and reflect upon and there is no doubt that the future is bright for Santa Clara women's golf.
