Softball Has 10 Honored on WCC All-Academic Lists

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – A total of 10 Santa Clara softball players were honored for their work in the classroom by the West Coast Conference Wednesday. Aubree Kim and Eleni Spirakis were named WCC All-Academic while Lauren Anderson, Taylor Burns, Sarah Ellersick, Emily Eudy, Sammy Needham, Hannah Russell, Kat Sanchez, and Lauren Schiek were all honorable mention.

It is the third year in a row Spirakis, who has a 3.95 GPA as a mechanical engineering student, has been named all-academic. Spirakis hit .371 during a truncated senior campaign while starting all 24 games. She led the team with 22 runs scored and added two doubles, two triples, a home run, and two RBIs out of the leadoff spot.

Kim, who has a 3.7 GPA in finance, pitched in nine games in 2020 and made three starts. She tossed 12 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
