Softball Has Three Named All-West Coast Conference

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara softball had a trio named to the All-West Coast Conference teams on Tuesday.

Ashley Trierweiler led the way, being named Defensive Player of the Year as well as First Team All-WCC. Allyson Ferreira brought home Second Team honors and Emma Bickford was honorable mention.

Trierweiler started every game and set the program record with a .481 batting average, good for fourth in the country, blowing away the previous high of .413 set in 2011 by Briana Knight. Her .560 on-base percentage also broke Knight's previous record of .505 set in 2011. She led the team in slugging percentage (.584), runs (21), steals and attempts (18-for-19), and triples (3) while hitting two doubles to go with 11 RBIs. Defensively, she went without an error in the outfield, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Ferreira hit .282 on the year with a double, a home run, 10 RBIs, and seven runs while appearing in and starting 26 games. She saved her best performance for league play where she hit .311 with nine RBIs.

Bickford, who also started all 28 games, finished second on the team with a .329 average, a .389 PBP, and a .506 slugging percentage. She led the team with six doubles, and two home runs while adding a triple and six runs scored.
