Softball Adds Montana Dixon as Graduate Assistant

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball has added Montana Dixon as the graduate assistant for the 2021-22 season. She will work with the catchers and outfielders

Dixon played from 2017-21 at Stanford where she was a five-year starter behind the plate.

"Montana is an excellent addition to our coaching staff," Santa Clara head coach Gina Carbonatto said. "She will bring invaluable knowledge to both the pitchers and catchers and bring fresh ideas to our staff. I am excited about the direction this program is going and I'm confident Montana will help propel us in that positive direction. I can't wait for her to get to work with the team."

During the 2021 campaign, Dixon was named to the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team while starting 50 games at catcher.

Her best season came in 2019 when she started all 53 games behind the plate and hit .285/.415/.496 with five home runs, two triples, and 10 doubles while driving in 27 runs. She was also named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention that season.

In the abbreviated 2020 season, Dixon again started every game at catcher and added three home runs and 12 RBIs while holding opponents to just 3-for-9 in stolen base attempts.

Despite missing all of Pac-12 play with an injury as a sophomore, Dixon led the team with 26 RBIs, a .443 OBP, and a .577 slugging percentage.

Dixon is from Lakewood, California and attended Lakewood High School. While there, she was a four-time All-State pick and graduated with honors and a GPA above 4.0.
