Santa Clara, Calif.—The Santa Clara women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Loyola Marymount on Sunday, April 1. After capturing the doubles point, the Broncos could not put away the singles matches. The Broncos move to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the WCC.
Santa Clara looks forward to hosting New Mexico State on Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m.
The Broncos dominated in the morning when they won two of the three doubles matches. Partners Katie Le and Jessica Agra crushed Ashley Anderson and Tory Parravi of LMU 8-0 at the No. 1 doubles position. Senior Kacie Wagner and junior Kelly Lamble ensured the doubles point when they beat Elisaveta Pironkova and Reka Rohonyi for an 8-2 victory.
In singles, No. 38 Le improved her overall record to 13-2 when she downed April Bisharat in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. This gives Le an 11 match-winning streak. She has not lost a match since February 11.
The second singles win came from newcomer Stephanie Skaras. The freshman went to three sets with Reka Rohonyi of LMU and came out on top 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Skaras continues to gain more experience, improving her singles record to 2-1 at the No. 5 spot for the Broncos.
