Women's Tennis Falls to Bay Area Rival Saint Mary's

Santa Clara, Calif.—After a weather-delayed 4-0 loss against San Diego on Sat., April 14, the Santa Clara women's tennis team dropped its match at No. 39 Saint Mary's by a score of 6-1 Sunday. The Broncos host their final two regular season matches of the 2012 season this  weekend vs. Gonzaga and Portland.

The Broncos will compete against the final two WCC opponents this weekend at home with Gonzaga on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and Portland on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

In singles action at Saint Mary's, No. 41 Katie Le battled to a tough three set loss against Catherine Lsip of Saint Mary's 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) at the No. 1 spot. This is Le's only fourth singles loss of the 2011-12 dual season.

Newcomer Stephanie Skaras continues to step up for the Broncos. She captured Santa Clara's lone point in this match, beating out Carla Lindlar in three sets. Skaras dropped the first set 4-6, but then came back strong winning the next two by a score of 6-1 and 6-2 

On the doubles side, Le and partner Jessica Agra were edged out by a slight margin of 9-8 (4) by the Gaels Jade Frampton and Jenny Jullien. The two other Bronco double teams could not pull out the doubles point for Santa Clara.
