Santa Clara will hosts Bronco Alumni Day on Saturday with a BBQ at 11 am for former alums at Alumni Park (to the left of the Leavey Center).  There will be a post-game meet and great with current team.   Bring your former teammates with you and contact Bronco assistant Matt Lyles for more information (mlyles@scu.edu).

Note: Women's Volleyball Breast Cancer Awareness Match this Saturday

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Santa Clara Women's Volleyball Team will host a PINK theme match this Saturday against BYU. It is meant to spread Breast Cancer Awareness and inspire fans to become more involved in the fight against the disease. In addition to pink decor, there will be pink foam fingers handed out to the first 50 fans. Please join us for this event and assist us in spreading the word.

Santa Clara defeated Sacramento State 3-0 Tuesday night in its last non-conference match of the year.  Set scores were 25-22, 25-14 and 25-14.  Santa Clara returns to West Coast Conference action on Saturday when it hosts No. 16 BYU at 1 pm in the Leavey Center.

Santa Clara is now 15-7 and 4-3 in the WCC and Sac State is 7-13 and 3-7 in the Big Sky.

Santa Clara was led by Megan Anders, who hit .636 with 14 kills (0 e, 22 att.).  Taylor Milton scored 10 kills, hitting .444 (2 e, 18 att.).  Lexi Williamson added seven kills, hitting .429 (1 e, 14 att.).  Lacey Maas saw her first action back from injury and was a perfect four of four in attempts in the third set.  Alyssa Anderson had 28 assists, one ace and seven digs.  Chelsea Heier had 13 assists and seven digs.  Katherine Douglas collected 13 digs and four kills. 

Sac State was led by Janelle Currey who scored 10 kills, hitting .257 (1 e, 35 att.).  Katie Aprile had 18 assists and Sydney Kordic had 16 digs.
 
Santa Clara hit .314 with 51 kills (14 e, 18 att.). The Broncos collected 49 assists, eight service aces, eight service errors, 56 digs and eight team blocks.  Sac State hit .186 with 27 kills (8 e, 102 att.). The Hornets collected 25 assists, one service ace, eight service errors, 25 digs and 6.5 team blocks.

In game one the teams tied it up seven times in the early going before the Broncos took a 10-7 lead on a team block by Anders and Milton and a kill by Anders.  Milton's kill cross court put the Broncos up 11-8.  A Hornet kill off the block was followed by a kill by Williamson, 12-9 SCU.  The Hornets scored back-to-back points before a service error gave SCU a sideout and a Douglas kill put SCU up 14-11.  The Broncos scored three of the next five points to move ahead 17-14.  Sac State scored four of the next five points to tie it up 18-18.  Timeout Broncos. A kill by Williamson was followed by her own service error to tie it up 19-19.  Back-to-back service errors tied it up at 20.  A team block by Cameron and Lommori and a kill by Cameron cross court fired up the team.  A Hornet timeout produced two straight Sac State points before a Milton kill crushed off the block gave SCU a 23-22 lead.  Milton's kill cross court saw Sac State take its second timeout, down 24-22.  An ace by Ali Rambis proved to be set point, 25-22 Broncos.  SCU hit .190 with 14 kills (6 e, 42 att.).  Sac State hit .146 with 11 kills (5 e, 41 att.).

Back-to-back kills by Anders and back-to-back kills by Williamson gave SCU a 4-2 lead in the second set.  Another kill by Anders off the block and one in the back court pushed the lead to 6-2 SCU.  Milton's kill off the block caused Sac State to whistle for time, down 7-2.  Lommori's kill off the block was followed by a service error by SCU.  A kill by Douglas and a team block by Cameron and Lommori was sandwiched between a Sac State point, 10-4 SCU.  A Lommori kill caused the Hornets to whistle for their second timeout, 11-4.  Trading points, Milton whipped it down the line for a kill.  Cameron scored a kill in the same spot and a team block by Anders and Williamson put SCU up 15-6.  Sac State rebounded with two points before Williamson put it away, 16-8. SCU took a 20-9 kill before Sac State scored a couple.  Anders crushed it cross court and Douglas scored a kill to make it 22-11. The Hornets scored three of the next give points before a Lommori kill put the set away, 25-14. SCU hit .436 with 19 kills (2 e, 39 att.).  Sac State hit .171 with 9 kills (3 e, 35 att.).

The Broncos jumped out to an 8-2 lead on a cross court kill by Milton and one in the back row by Anders.  The Broncos scored four of the next five before a Hornet kill, 12-4 Broncos.  SCU added two of the next three to move ahead 14-5.  A Bronco hitting error was followed by a Hornet side out.  Sac State scored a couple more, 15-9 Broncos. Trading points, a kill by Danille Rottman made it 17-10 SCU.  Sac State scored two of the next three points before Anderson knocked down an ace, 19-12 SCU.  A kill by Lacey Maas was her first since early in the season (injury), 20-13 SCU.  SCU scored three of the next four. An ace by Williamson and Maas' kill ended the match, 25-14 Broncos. SCU hit .324 with 18 kills (6 e, 37 att.).  Sac State hit .269 with 7 kills (0 e, 26 att.).
