SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Coming off a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Portland, Santa Clara volleyball closes out its stretch of three matches in five days at 2 p.m. Saturday when it plays host to Gonzaga. The Broncos have won nine of their last 11 matches, including five sweeps and three four-set victories.
The Broncos (12-4, 3-1 WCC) are seeking their fourth-straight win, all vs. West Conference competition. On Thursday, Santa Clara outlasted Portland 17-25, 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 15-13, led by Nikki Hess, who posted a season-high 22 kills, and Kirsten Mead, who tallied a season-best 50 assists.
Gonzaga (11-5, 2-1 WCC) lost at San Francisco Thursday to snap a four-match win streak.
The Broncos opened the week on Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep against St. Mary's.
