SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara volleyball's Nikki Hess added to an outstanding season of accolades Wednesday morning when she received AVCA Honorable Mention All-America recognition. The junior outside hitter is Santa Clara's first AVCA All-American honoree since 2008.

Hess was also named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team along with a First Team All-West Coast Conference selection for her performance in 2015.

"I'm really happy for Nikki. All of her hard work over the last two years has paid off," head coach Jon Wallace said. "Nikki has an explosive game that is fun to watch, but what sets her apart is her competitive spirit every day in the gym."

The Scottsdale, Ariz. native started all 31 matches and played in 112 of Santa Clara's 114 sets this season. Hess, one of the most versatile players on the team and in the WCC, tallied 450 kills for a 4.02 kill/set average and had 299 digs, 75 total blocks and 23 service aces. Her kill numbers were both good for fifth in the WCC.

Hess finished with double-digit kills in 28 matches, double-digit digs in 14 matches and 13 double-doubles. She had 20 or more kills in four matches, including a season-high 22 (Oct. 1 at Portland, Nov. 21 at San Diego).

Santa Clara's last All-American was Third Team selection Anna Cmaylo in 2008.  Five different Broncos have been recognized with nine All-American awards in program history.
