Volleyball Reaches Highest Ranking in Nearly a Decade at No. 17

AVCA Top 25

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara volleyball has achieved its highest national ranking in nearly a decade. One week after making the AVCA Top 25 for the first time in two years, the Broncos are ranked 17th in Monday's poll. They are a perfect 9-0 following the first three weeks of the season, which is the best start in program history.

Monday marks the highest ranking for the Broncos since they were ranked 15th on Oct. 16, 2006.

Last weekend, Santa Clara swept Grand Canyon on Friday and triumphed in four-set matches against West Virginia and Cal on Saturday to win the Cal Classic. Nikki Hess garnered Tournament MVP honors while Hailey Lindberg and Taylor Odom were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Santa Clara is in a stretch of 14 straight matches away from home to start the season. The Broncos wrap up nonconference play at the Boise State Classic this week — they take the court against Arizona State and Boise State on Friday, followed by UC Davis on Saturday.
