SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University's senior goalkeeper Stephanie Clements (San Carlos, Calif. / Sacred Heart Prep) saved a season-high 11 shots in the Broncos' 9-8 comeback victory over Cal State East Bay on the road Sunday, earning KAP7 WWPA Women's Player of the Week honors for Feb. 20.
The win was pivotal for the Broncos and the league, as SCU evened its conference mark at 2-2, and picked up a road win over a team that finished third in the WWPA standings last spring. Clements now has 61 blocks in 11 starts this season as SCU's primary keeper.

Ranked UC San Diego and LMU will play eight of the league's 12 games in the fourth weekend of February. Ranked 16th and 17th, respectively, LMU and UC San Diego had last week off and now head to the loaded UC Irvine Invitational.In the tournament, 15 of the 16 teams in the field are ranked as LMU opens with No. 4 Cal and UC San Diego opens with No. 3 UCLA.
The other match-ups on the week include a non-conference showdown between Cal State Monterey Bay and Santa Clara on Saturday. The Broncos also host Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon. The week will begin on Friday with Cal State East Bay at Fresno Pacific and Sonoma State hosting Azusa Pacific.
Sonoma State's Colette Reid (Carlsbad, Calif./Palomar CC) recorded six goals on 13 attempts in the Seawolves three games last week, including a hat trick in a narrow 8-6 loss to 14th-ranked UC Davis. The Seawolves went 2-1 over the weekend, earning wins over Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal Lutheran. Reid also tallied two assists and three steals.
Lindsay Rangel beat the buzzer as she threw in the ninth and winning goal with three seconds left in the match to take down Cal Lutheran 9-8, and earn their second win in a row. After Cal Lutheran netted two goals in the opening quarter, Sonoma State came back aggressively in the second period, scoring five goals including two from Brittny Hummel to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
