The Santa Clara men's and women's cross country teams finished off their year Saturday as they competed in the NCAA West Regional against some of the top teams in the nation. The men placed 19th in the 10k and the women took 22nd in the 6k.

Michael Delaurenti, running in the final race of his cross country career, was the best Bronco finisher Saturday, placing 69th with a time of 31:56.20. Delaurenti has been the top men's finisher for his entire senior year and was fresh off an All-WCC performance at the WCC Championships two weeks ago.

Freshman Chris Sampson has been huge for the Broncos all year, stepping into the second place spot for the team early in the year and keeping it to the end. Sampson was 107th in his first 10k with a time of 32:48.05. Alex Harkins came in behind him with a time of 33:11:50 to finish in 119th place.

The final Santa Clara scorers came in back to back, with A.J. Blumel and Robert Reid finishing 126th and 127th respectively. Blumel ran a 33:23.80 in the final cross country race of his Bronco career, while Reid ran 33:25.75 in his first regional race.

Christopher Mosier and John Laughlin finished together as well, Mosier in 151st with a time of 34:22.20 and Laughlin in 152nd with a time of 34:27.50. Mosier and Laughlin finished out of place as the 6th and 7th Bronco runners.

For the women, freshman Melissa Conlin ran a terrific race in her first regional appearance. Conlin placed 85th overall with a time of 22:06.05. Annie Murphy-Hagan came on strong as well, coming in soon after Conlin in 88th finishing in 22:09.10.

Senior Blossom Marimpietri put a fitting end to her cross country career at Santa Clara, finishing third on the team, her best finish all year. Marimpietri came in 128th overall with a time of 22:45.35. Coming in behind her was Whitney Porter in 147th, running a 23:04.60 and Danielle Miller in 152 to close out the Bronco finishers with a time of 23:09.80.

Veronica Vazquez took 154th behind Miller with a time of 23:11.90 and Noelle Lopez ran a 23:50.05 to place 177th.
