PORTLAND, Ore./SAN FRANCISCO — Santa Clara track and field wrapped up its 2017 regular season at the Portland Twilight and West Coast Last Chance Meets on Saturday. The Broncos topped 11 prior personal-best marks as part of a busy day to close the season.

"Overall, I'm very pleased with how the team performed in our last meets," head coach Felipe Montoro said.

Joey Berriatua faced a competitive field in his 10,000-meter debut at the Portland Twilight and finished in 14th place with a 31:32.56.

"Joey gave a great effort but his calf didn't hold up over the last few miles," Montoro said.

The rest of the team competed at the West Coast Last Chance Meet. Jack Davidson finished a stellar freshman season by posting the second-fastest 1,500-meter time in program history at 3:49.75, good for third place in the field. He just missed Berriatua's school record of 3:49.35 from the 2015 Mt. SAC Relays.

"I was more impressed with Jack's third-place finish than nearly breaking the school record," Montoro said. "He was in good company in that field."

Marisa Sanchez doubled up for personal best times at 800 meters (2:32.38) and 1,500 meters (4:53.04). Marisa Rudolph cracked the five-minute mark at 1,500 meters for the first time in her 14th career race at that distance. Bevin McCullough notched a new PR at 5,000 meters with an 18:51.33 and ran a 1,500-meter 4:52.27 to finish a second slower than her personal-best mark.

Men's PRs (Debuts in Italics): Jack Davidson 1,500-meter 3:49.75, Jeffrey Stalun 1,500-meter 3:57.48, Ben Williams 1,500-meter 4:04.94, Xander Olivero 5,000-meter 15:06.99, John O'Hagan 5,000-meter 15:39.90, Jean-Baptiste Tooley 5,000-meter 15:48.15, Ben Davidson 5,000-meter 15:53.70
