Head coach Tom Service, on men's race: "The guys ran a really good race as a team. They all picked each other up and believed in each other. They also ran a smart race and let some teams get out quick knowing that they would be able to reel them back in. I am happy with their effort today."
Service, on women's race: "Today was not our best day overall. Not everyone was 100 percent coming into the race but I thought that we would overcome that. Unfortunately we did not get great results, but I think that we will bounce back and run really well at Regionals in two weeks."
Service, on men's team: "They have been working really well together all season and you saw that again today. Everyone stuck together and pushed each other and I believe that is why they had such a strong race."
Freshman Anne Murphy-Hagan, on her first WCC Championship at Crystal Springs: "This is a great course with a lot of history so if you are a cross country runner, you have to love this course. There is a good vibe here, but I wish that we had run a better race."
Murphy-Hagan, looking ahead to Regionals: "We will have to go out and redeem ourselves in two weeks. Hopefully we can use today as motivation to run a good race at Regionals."
Chris Gumbs, on sixth-place finish: "I felt really relaxed out there today and I think that helped me run well. Sometimes it is hard not to get too pumped up for races like this and then start out too fast. The whole team did a great job of starting well and finishing strong. It was a good race for us."
Gumbs, on taking confidence to Regionals: "Running well today makes me feel very good about Regionals. We all want to go there and keep it going."
Freshman Alex Harkins, on staying together: "We know this course well because we have run up here a number of times in practice. All year long we have worked on running in a pack. We start our workouts together and finish them together and I think that has made us a really strong team."
Harkins, on excitement of WCC Championships: "It is great running against other conference schools in a small field. We know the other runners well because we have raced against them in other races this year. This race has a great atmosphere so that makes it easy to run."
