Standout pitcher, Cory Hall, is playing his third and final season at Santa Clara University. Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Hall first attended Gonzaga University where he utilized a redshirt season.  The next year he transferred to Taft College where he was named to the 2008 All-Central Valley Conference (CVC) First Team. Then in 2009, Hall found his way to the Mission Campus.

Now at Santa Clara, the senior has found his way into the starting rotation, serving as the Broncos Friday starter. Hall leads the team in strikeouts (40) and innings pitched (52.0). Recently, SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) sat down with him to talk about how he started playing baseball, his goals for the season, and some of his favorite moments at Santa Clara.

SCB: When did you first start playing baseball? What do you enjoy about playing here at SCU?

CH: I first started playing baseball when I was five. Back home in Canada, we really only get to play outside from mid-April to mid-August due to weather, so there was a lot of indoor training during the winter that I had to do. At Santa Clara, I mostly enjoy the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams around the country.

SCB: Tell us some of your goals for your final season.

CH: My main goal is to help our team get to a regional, and ultimately an opportunity to make it to Omaha. Each time I get the opportunity to pitch, I'm going to give my best effort to help the team win. If we take it one game at a time through conference play, we will have a great chance.

SCB: Do you have any memorable baseball moments that happened here at Santa Clara?

CH: Each year I have been here we have beat Stanford at home, its nice to get a win against one of the best teams in college baseball. Also, I will never forget Wags (Curtis Wagner) hitting a home run over Domicilio apartments last year. Hopefully, we will make some new unforgettable memories during the rest of our games this season.

SCB: If you weren't playing baseball, what sport would you like to compete in?

CH: I would probably still be playing hockey. I played for 14 years when I was growing up, but I would like to compete in Ping-Pong. We just got a table in our team room and my play has increased tenfold.

SCB: Do you have any pre-game rituals before you step onto the field?

CH: I like to eat oatmeal for breakfast and listen to Kenny Chesney just before I start to stretch.

SCB: Any post-grad plans?

CH: No plans yet, just enjoying the last few months here at SCU.
