REDSHIRT SENIOR (2019): Played in seven games including five starts ... made two starts each at center field and designated hitter and one start at right field ... lone hit of the season came against San Francisco (March 30) on a pinch-hit RBI double.  

REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2018): Started in 42 of 49 games played ... set career-highs in nearly all offensive categories, playing in all but three games ... hit five home runs among his 12 extra base hits ... 36 starts came at right field and six starts at center field ...  batted 14 times in the fifth spot in the batting order and 15 times in the sixth spot ... was hit by a pitch 11 times to lead the team along with Jason Dicochea ... recorded 96 putouts and one assist in 100 chances for a .970 fielding percentage ... made a game ending diving catch to seal the win against LMU on May 11 ... had 11 multi-hit games including three 3-hit games ... scored a season-high three runs at San Francisco (April 27) including the game-winning run in the 12th inning ... drove in a season-high three runs on a three-run homer against BYU (April 6) in the first game of the double header ... was one of 13 seniors recognized on Senior Day vs LMU (May 13).  

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2017): Played in 24 games and made 21 starts as the Bronco right fielder ... hit .278 with three doubles, a triple and two home runs and eight runs batted in ... he walked eight times and was hit by a pitch on four occasions ... recorded 56 putouts and one assist for a .950 fielding percentage including an outstanding diving catch against Pacific on May 14 ... hit his first home run of the season in the Broncos' 8-6 win at Pepperdine on April 28. He went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run home run and two runs scored ... recorded three hits, drove in a run and scored two himself on May 13 as SCU defeated Pacific 7-2.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2016): Made 32 appearances and 15 starts ... Opening Day starter at designated hitter ... played primarily in the designated hitter spot ... also played left field ... hit .133 with two doubles, two home runs, six RBIs, seven runs scored and five walks ... was 0-for-1 in stolen base attempts ... posted his first collegiate hit vs. No. 24 Notre Dame Feb. 20 ... hit a two-run homer vs. Utah Valley Feb. 26 ... had a two-run, pinch-hit homer vs. Cal Poly April 5 ... walked twice and scored two runs vs. New Mexico April 12 ... pinch hit, doubled and scored a run vs. Portland May 15.

2015: Redshirted during his first season at Santa Clara.

PRIOR TO SCU: Graduated from San Ramon Valley High School in 2014 … played for baseball coach Chris DeClercq … played football for coach Mark Kessler ... in 2013 hit .339 … hit .400 in East Bay Athletic League play … went 4-for-4 with six RBIs in one game that season … earned All-EBAL honors … was named the SRVHS Offensive MVP …  in 2012 was named to the Perfect Game WWBA 15u National Championship All Tournament Team with a .300 batting average, two doubles, one home run, five RBIs and four stolen bases.

PERSONAL: Son of Tim and Anita Smithwick … Tim is an Attorney … has two older siblings, Dan and Jess … hobbies include working out, fishing, listening to music and pickup basketball … member of the SRVHS Leadership Program, which is heavily involved in the community … was named the 2012-13 Student of the Year … majoring in Business.
