SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara University's athletic department and its student-athletes have partnered with the College of Adaptive Arts (CAA) in San Jose, which offers adults with differing abilities a unique opportunity to learn and develop through the school's wide-ranging curriculum.

Pictured to the right, members of SCU's men's golf team assisted some special students from the CAA at the San Jose Municipal Golf Course in late September, helping them prep for the Inaugural CAA Golf Marathon, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 12.

"We all really enjoyed the chance to help out because we were able to give back through a thing we know and love very much, the game of golf," said Santa Clara University junior Bobby Monaco. "It was fun for us and them, everyone had smiles on their faces. CAA students were able to interact with us that wouldn't have been possible without golf. It puts everything in perspective for us, we can better people's lives through the game."

Members of both SCU's men's and women's golf teams will be on hand to volunteer at the upcoming Marathon event, set to be held at San Jose Country Club.

"What a great way for our kids to give back. Not only do their students enjoy our support and interacting with our players, it gives our players a chance to grow and develop as well," said Santa Clara head coach Rob Miller. "Advancing and growing; that's what the academy is all about."

About the College of Adaptive Arts
In 2009, DeAnna Pursai and Pamela Lindsay joined up to begin a nonprofit entitled The College of Adaptive Arts (CAA). They realized there was a rich pool of talents and abilities among adults with disabilities waiting to be illuminated.
The vision of CAA is to provide a college campus for adults with differing abilities where they will have opportunities to learn from a diverse and rich curriculum that will enable them to live a full and empowered life as successful, contributing members of the community.
