SANTA CLARA, Calif. - From October 29 through November 13, Santa Clara University men's soccer senior Eric Masch is helping to organize a Clothing Drive in conjunction with San Jose's Sacred Heart Community Service.

"This event is put on as part of a community service project for my English 183 class," said Masch. "The other members in the group are: Spencer Chavez, Jamie Barnes, Jason Su, and Briana Burt. We chose this project in particular to address the issue that thousands of homeless people living in Santa Clara don't always have access to new, clean clothes. By organizing this clothing drive we can offer the basic necessities of clothing and warmth to many people."

Donations are being accepted at the Sacred Heart Community Service Center, 1381 South First St., San Jose, CA 95110.

Additionally, fans are encouraged to bring their donations to the Santa Clara-St. Mary's men's soccer game at Buck Shaw Stadium on the SCU Campus on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.

Blankets and any other types of warm clothing are greatly appreciated. The Clothing Drive is also accepting all types of clothing, with the exception of undergarments. The University will match any monetary donations.

"Our hope is that low-income families and homeless people will benefit this winter," said Masch. "Sacred Heart will take all the donations, and organize "Gracie's Clothes Closet" for people to shop in free of charge."

Please clean out your closets of "last season's jeans" and the sweater that no longer fits and any other unused clothing you may have. Every item is greatly appreciated. Go Broncos!"
