Men's Tennis Competes at Tiger Fall Classic

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis team continued fall action at the opening day of the Tiger Fall Classic, hosted this weekend by University of the Pacific at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.

Sophomore Erich Chen, seeded second in this weekend's tournament, is the only singles player still alive in the main draw. He will take on Brian Casey of UC Santa Cruz on Saturday.

In doubles, Chen and partner Michael Bruggemann defeated a tandem from USF 8-4 to advance to the semifinals, where they will take on a pair from UC Santa Cruz.

Francisco Zepponi, Federico Mattioli and Bruggemann will compete in the consolation singles bracket tomorrow.

Santa Clara remains at the tournament through Sunday.
