Men’s Tennis Drops Conference Opener, 4-3
BURLINGAME, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis reeled three straight singles wins to go up 3-1 against Pacific but fell 4-3 in the conference opener played indoors at the Broadway Tennis Center.  Due to rain, the match was moved from Degheri Tennis Center on the campus of Santa Clara University to the indoor courts of Broadway Tennis Center in Burlingame, California, some 35 mlles away.  Santa Clara (8-6, 0-1 WCC) has now lost four matches in a row.  
 
After losing the doubles point, the Broncos got three straight singles wins – Connor Garnett defeated Akram El Sallaly 6-3, 6-3 on court No. 4, followed by Andrew Gu's win over Ross Watson 7-6(5), 6-2 on court No. 1, and Robert Seby beat Bernardo Oliveira 6-1, 7-5 on court No. 2 – to go up 3-1 in the match.   
 
However, the Broncos could not close out the match failing to pick up a win in the final three singles matches, two of which went to three sets.  With the match all squared at three apiece, the outcome hinged on court No. 6 between Santa Clara's Kamran Khan and Pacific's Mikayel Khachatryan.  
 
Khan had been in a similar position a month earlier against UC Davis with a come from behind three set victory to clinch the Bronco win, however, this time around Khan went down 6-3, 6-2 to Khachatryan.  Pacific (4-12, 1-2 WCC) picked up its first conference win of the season with Khachatryan's clincher.  
 
Gu and Seby each picked up two wins on the day as the duo combined to win its doubles match beatling El Sallaly and John Horoz Garner, 6-3, on court No. 1.  
 
Santa Clara returns to action on Sunday taking on Saint Mary's at Degheri Tennis Center.  First serve was originally scheduled for Noon PT, however its been pushed out to 2 p.m. PT.
