DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara women's rowing raced in a scrimmage against UC Davis and Saint Mary's to open the 2023 season on Saturday. No times were taken.
"With five new-to-the-sport novice rowers in the boat, the team surprised themselves by staying firmly in the mix with the Saint Mary's 2V for the first half of each piece before being overtaken and beaten by between one half and one full length of open water. The end result was third place out of four competing boats in the three trips down the course. As well as being a great learning moment for our novices, they gained valuable racing experience. It will be exciting to watch them grow and gain speed this spring."
