SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Midfielder Tiffany Roberts was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for her performance this weekend in leading the then tenth-ranked Broncos to victory over the fourth-ranked Portland Pilots.
Roberts is now the second Bronco to earn the league's weekly honor this season, following senior midfielder Leslie Osborne's selection on September 20.
The sophomore from Phoenix, Ariz. scored the game-winning goal in the 64th minute to lead the Broncos to a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon. Roberts dribbled past Pilot defenders and put a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal past Pilot goalkeeper Cori Alexander. The goal marked the first of the season for Roberts.
The fifth-ranked Broncos (11-4-2, 4-1-0) will be back on the field tonight as they host San Jose State in the annual rivalry series match at Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, SCU will hit the road, facing Loyola Marymount in a 1:00 p.m. contest in Los Angeles.
