Santa Clara To Face Cal In NCAA First Round

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's soccer team received its 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament berth on Monday drawing Cal-Berkley in the first round of action. The Broncos and Bears will battle each other at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, Calif. In the second game of the day, Stanford will face the Sacramento State Hornets at 8 p.m. The two winners will then face each other in the second round on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.

The Broncos finished the 2007 regular season with a 12-5-3 overall record and a 4-3-0 West Coast Conference record, which was good for third place. SCU has been in the Top-25 in the national rankings all season and is led by senior captain Brittany Klein and sophomore Kiki Bosio, who have scored seven goals each. Bosio is also first on the team in assists with six and points with 20.

Santa Clara enters Friday's game off a solid 3-0 shutout of Saint Mary's in their WCC season finale. Senior defender Kendall Doherty netted the first two goals for the Broncos, 30 seconds apart, while senior forward Meagan Snell capped of the afternoon with her third goal of the season eight seconds later.

Tickets are available starting Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 8 a.m., either by calling 1-800-STANFORD or by purchasing them in person at the ticket office located at Gate 2 of Stanford Stadium. Tickets for Friday are good for both games.
