SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Junior midfielder Lauren Matheson was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's College Team of the Week Monday for her performance in Santa Clara's win at UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 26.

Matheson scored both Santa Clara goals in the Broncos' 2-1 victory at UC Santa Barbara. She opened the scoring when midfielder Julie Johnston assisted her goal in the 11th minute.

With regulation almost over and the score tied 1-1, Matheson scored her second goal of the match. The game-winner was scored in the 89th minute and was assisted by Sara Jackson.

"It's very flattering to be acknowledged individually as a player," said Matheson. "However, the team as a whole has been working so hard and everyone played really well this weekend. We have such awesome girls on the team and I am very excited for this season."

The Broncos (3-0-0) will play in the University of Oregon Nike Tournament in Eugene, Ore. this coming weekend. They play Oregon State Fri., Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m. They return to the field to play Oregon on Sun., Sept. 4 at 1 p.m.
