SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University head volleyball coach Jon Wallace announced the promotion of Dustin Moore as his new first assistant coach Wednesday morning. Moore had served as the team's second assistant in 2001 and as a volunteer coach from 1997-99.

"We are extremely excited to have Dustin around in a larger role with the team," said Wallace. "His knowledge of the game and his dedication to the program have proven invaluable over his time here. He has vast experience on the recruiting scene and has a knack for finding the blue chip athletes that we need to become a top-10 program in the nation. He thoroughly understands the goals of this program and will be an integral part in achieving them."

During his two terms at Santa Clara, the program has accumulated a .669 winning percentage (79-39) and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Last season he helped the Broncos to a 19-10 record and a fourth-straight appearance in the postseason.

Following his stint as a volunteer coach on the Mission Campus, Moore went to Woodside Priory High School in Portola Valley, where he was the head coach for the girl's and boy's varsity volleyball squads. While with Woodside Priory, his girl's team won the CIF Division V California State Championship.

Moore began his coaching career at his alma mater, Menlo College, where he was an assistant for the Division III team in 1994 before becoming the head coach for the 1995 and '96 seasons. Moore then turned to club teams and coached City Beach Volleyball Club for four seasons before moving to the South Bay Boys Volleyball Club in 1999, where he stayed for two years.

"I am very excited about this opportunity," said Moore on the promotion. "It is exciting to seen the steps that this program has taken since I first began here in 1997. Even then we made strides every year in becoming more prominent nationally, and Jon has continued that since he took over three seasons ago. We have set some pretty lofty goals, but I think they are attainable, given the progress that continues to be made here on a yearly basis."

Moore earned a bachelor's degree in advertising from Menlo College in 1994. A native of Santa Barbara, he resides in Redwood City with his wife Kim. The couple welcomed the newest member of their family into the world in October when their daughter Teagan was born.
