ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Santa Clara's Lindsey Bacolini scored her third goal of the game with just 22 seconds left to give the Broncos a thrilling 8-7 win over Sonoma State on Saturday afternoon in Rohnert Park. The Broncos improve to 5-2 on the year as they have won their last four matches.

Sonoma State's Amanda Haddock scored with just 39 seconds left to tie the game at seven. The game looked like it was headed for overtime, but just 17 seconds later Bacolini sent one to the corner of the net for the game-winner.

Catherine Flynn led the Bronco goal scorers with four, while Bacolini found the back of the net three times in the contest. Alanna Simpkins also scored in the contest.

Bacolini and Katie Radvanyi led the Bronco's defensive efforts with nine steals between them. Bacolini recorded five in the contest, while Radvanyi had four.

In the cage, Kristin Barnes had a strong game with nine blocks. One of those saves came on a four-meter penalty shot by Sonoma State, helping to keep the game close in the late periods.

After earning the program's first-ever national ranking on February 2, the Broncos have won five straight matches. Last Saturday, Santa Clara posted three wins in a single day in Santa Cruz. Today, the Broncos also added a 15-6 victory over Cal State East Bay.

SCU is back in action tomorrow, when it opens its home schedule against Cal State Monterey Bay at Leavey Pool. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
