SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Bronco track released its 2016 schedule Tuesday, as announced by head coach Felipe Montoro. For the second year in a row, Santa Clara begins its campaign at the indoor Husky Classic (Feb. 12) as part of the 12-meet season.

The team's remaining 11 regular season events will all be held in the Golden State.

"Our students and the coaching staff collectively have set high goals for our 2016 track season, and we believe this schedule allows us the appropriate competitive opportunities to compete at a very high level," associate head coach Pete Cushman said.

Santa Clara starts off with four meets in four weekends, capped off by the Kim Duyst Invitational in Turlock, Calif. March 5. Later in the year, the Broncos return to Walnut, Calif. for the Mt. SAC Relays April 14-15 — one of the biggest events on the schedule. The regular season wraps up at the West Coast Last Chance Meet May 14 in San Francisco.

"We've always made every effort to find the best competitions on the West Coast that fit well with our academic calendar, and this schedule is no exception to that goal," Cushman said.

The Bronco men set three school records in 2015, and are led by Joey Berriatua, who holds program-best marks in the 1500m and 3000m races.

After redshirting last spring, Bryan Crook returns with top five Bronco times in three events: 3000m (5th), 5000m (4th) and 10000m (3rd). Crook set all of those personal best marks during his most recent track season in 2014.

On the women's side, Mary Kriege set program-best marks in the 5000m and 10000m last season, and also holds the fastest 3000m time. She is the only Bronco in history to break the 10-minute mark in the 3000m and the 17-minute mark in the 5000m races.

Grayson Murphy returns for her second track season — in 2015 the Salt Lake City native posted the program's best 3000m Steeplechase time by more than 36 seconds.

The NCAA West Preliminaries are May 26-28 in Lawrence, Kan. and the NCAA Finals are June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
