Track & Field Notches Four Top-Three Finishes at Kim Duyst Invitational

TURLOCK, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field had four of its women's runners finish in third place or better during Saturday's Kim Duyst Invitational at Warrior Stadium. Mary Kriege won the 1500 meter event while Grayson Murphy took first place in the 3000 meter Steeplechase. 

The women's team also scored third place finished from Karen Mac (800 meters) and Heather LaPlante (1500 meters). 

Women

Kriege ran a 4:37.44 to set a new personal best mark in the 1500 meter race — it also marked the fourth-fastest 1500m time in program history. Heather LaPlante finished two spots behind Kriege with a 4:45.23.

Mac ran a 2:26.31 in the 800 meter race and finished within seven seconds of first place.

Men 

The men's team competed in two events and tallied a pair of top-five finishes. Brynn Sargent led the Broncos with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meter run (2:03.58) and Jean-Baptiste Tooley ran a 4:02.46 in the 1500 meter race to capture fourth place.

The Broncos will send a small group of runners to the Hornet Invitational on Saturday, March 19.
