Cross Country Teams Both Finish Fourth at USF

Women's Results

Men's Results

The men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2010 season with both finishing in fourth place at the San Francisco Invitational.

The men put three in the top 25, with Kevin Oliver finishing in 16th, Ben Demaree finishing in 17th and Austin Jones in finishing 19th, Chris Mosier finishing in 23rd and Luca Signore finishing in 24th.

"The men did a great job of executing our objectives for the day," said associate head coach Felipe Montoro. "We really moved well as a group during the last two miles of the race. Sophomore Kevin Oliver ran a very controlled race and really did a great job of leading the team today. Our freshman also performed very well, particularly Ben Demaree. Austin Jones and captain Chris Mosier ran well too. It was a great start to the season and was an encouraging sign for the post season as well."

The women's team put three in the top 25 and five in the top 30.  The three women in the top 25 were: Mary Reynolds in 15th place, Erin Hicks in 19th place and Nicole Giove in 23rd place. Allie Sibole was 26th as the fourth-best Bronco and Carey Parker was 27th as the fifth finisher for the Broncos.

"For many of our women's team it was their first competition in nearly a year as quite a few of them did not compete in track last spring," said Bronco head coach Tom Service. "With that in mind I felt that they competed very well today and accomplished what we set out to do. Overall 4th place was a solid effort on the day. The Freshman had particularly good performances for the women as did sophomore Mary Reynolds. Nicole Giove ran well also. We are looking forward to our next race at UC Riverside."
