The Santa Clara University men's golf team wrapped up its 2002-2003 season with the final round of the U.S. Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Broncos fired a final round 307 and finished in 16th place with their 54-hole total of 902, eight strokes behind the University of San Diego for 15th place.
Juniors Justin Ahasic and Chris DeMartini were the top finishers for the Broncos as they finished in a tie for 52nd at 10-over par, 223. Ahasic fired a final round score of 2-over par, 73, while DeMartini carded a 76 on Sunday after posting rounds of 75 and 72 on Saturday.
Freshman Blake Lugar registered a final round 80 to finish the two day event in a tie for 70th place at 15-over par, 228. Sophomore Matt Klenz finished in a tie for 74th at 16-over par while freshman Michael Nicoletti finished in a tie for 79th place at 18-over par.
UCLA won the tournament firing a 12-under par 840, followed by Oklahoma State (850). Rounding out the top five were San Diego State (851), Fresno State (853) and Oregon (856).
San Diego State's Mark Warman took top individual honors carding a three-round score of seven-under par 206 for the tourney. John Ellis, of Oregon, and Jeff Coburn, of UC Irvine, tied for second at six-under par 207. Rounding out the top five individuals are Oklahoma State's Hunter Mahan (208) and UCLA's John Merrick (208).
