Men's Golf Set to Host Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team will host the 2002 Bronco Invitational Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 28-29 at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose. The Broncos will be one of 10 teams participating in the 54-hole tournament.

Head coach John Kennaday and his squad enter the tournament fresh off a 10th place finish at the CHL Intercollegiate hosted by Cal State Northridge earlier this week. Junior Justin Ahasic played his best collegiate tournament at the CHL, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a two-day total of 1-under par, 215.

Last year the Broncos placed fourth in the Bronco Invitational, tying their best team output of the season.

The 2002 Bronco Invitational

WHERE:
Silver Creek Valley Country Club, San Jose, Calif., Par 72 6,868 yards

WHEN:
Monday, Oct. 28, 36 holes (shotgun start at 7:15 a.m.)
Tuesday, Oct. 29, 18 holes (Tee times start at 7 a.m. off #1 and #10)

FORMAT:
54 holes.
Each team will field a team of five with several individuals whose scores will not count towards their respective team's score.

FIELD:
Cal Poly, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Marcos, Gonzaga, Hawaii-Hilo, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Saint Mary's and Santa Clara.

RESULTS:
Results from the 2002 Bronco Invitational will be faxed from the Santa Clara Sports Information Office to each participating school at the conclusion of the first day and at the conclusion of the tournament. Results will also be posted on the official website of Santa Clara athletics, www.SantaClaraBroncos.com.
