Men's Golf in Third Place at Vandal Fall Classic

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Santa Clara University men's golf squad sits in a tie for third place following the first two rounds of the University of Idaho Vandal Fall Classic in Moscow, Idaho.

The Broncos are tied for third with Washington State, just seven shots behind Cal Poly who is in second, while the tournament host is in first place, 17 strokes ahead of Cal Poly. Fellow West Coast Conference competitors Saint Mary's is in sixth, Loyola Marymount is 10th and Gonzaga is 11th out of the 13 varsity squads competing in the tourney.

Junior Chris DeMartini is tied for eighth place overall after firing rounds of 70 and 72 to finish the day at even par. Sophomore Matt Klenz is tied for 10th after two rounds of 72, while Justin Ahasic made a successful return from should surgery, shooting rounds of 72 and 74 to finish the first day in a tie for 21st.

Freshmen Vincent Aicale and Eric Lillibridge began their Bronco careers on Saturday, with Aicale shooting 72 and 75 while Lillibridge fired rounds of 76 and 77. Aicale is in a tie for 28th and Lillibridge is in a tie for 55th.

John Kennaday's squad will conclude their play in the two-day invite with their final round scheduled for Sunday morning at the 6,663 yar, par-71 University of Idaho Golf Course.
