Men's Golf in 13th at Hawaii

KAHUKU, Hawaii - The Santa Clara University men's golf squad finished the first two round of the Hawaii Fall Invitational in 13th place after rounds of 306 and 301 at the 7,299 yard, par-72 Links at Turtle Bay on the Island of Ohau.

The opening round 306 placed them in a tie for 11th, but the second round 301 moved them down two spots, two shots behind Cal State Stanislaus and three behind the host, University of Hawaii.

Freshman Michael Nicoletti proved he belonged at the college level, firing rounds of 72 and 73 to end day one at 1-over par and in a tie for 10th place. Sophomore Jonathan Edwards also played well as he finished day one at 4-over par and in a tie for 26th after rounds of 73 and 75.

Sophomore Matt Klenz shot two rounds of 78 and sits in a tie for 61st, while freshman Vincent Aicale shot an opening-round 85 but followed it up with a 75 to finish the day in a tie for 79th place at 16-over par. The Broncos most consistent golfer to date, Justin Ahasic, had a rough outing, finishing the day with rounds of 83 and 79. Ahasic is currently in a tie for 83rd at 18-over par.

Tuesday's third and final round will be the last competitive round for the Broncos in the Fall. Following a break during the winter, Santa Clara will return to action in the spring, beginning at the Sacramento State Invitational on March 11-12.
