Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Season-Opening Tourney

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Santa Clara University men's golf team had a rough final day at the University of Idaho Vandal Fall Classic Sunday, but still managed to finsh seventh out of the 13 squads competing in the tournament.

The Broncos fired rounds of 286 and 293 on day one but fell to a final round of 303 at the University of Idaho Golf Club, dropping them four spots from where they stood after Saturday's rounds.

Junior Justin Ahasic was the top finisher for Santa Clara, ending the two-day event with a 6-over par score of 219. His final round 73 was the Broncos' lowest score of the day. Fellow junior Chris DeMartini finished one shot behind Ahasic after carding a final round score of 7-over par, 78.

Santa Clara will return to action in three weeks as they participate in the Countrywide Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge on October 21-22 in southern California.
