Darkness Halts Opening Day Action for Men's Golf at Sacramento State Invitational

ELK GROVE, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf was unable to complete its first two rounds of the Sacramento State Invitational due to darkness at Valley Hi Country Club.

The Broncos are unofficially tied for sixth place, but players for the 14 teams have anywhere between two to six holes to complete in the second round, which will conclude Tuesday morning.

Berk Harvey is tied for fifth at 4-under-par and Matt McCarty is tied for eighth at 3-under. Harvey has two holes to finish and McCarty three.

Santa Clara was 10th after an opening round 10-over 288 fueled by 1-under 71 from Harvey.

The Broncos are tied with Oakland at 4-over. Long Beach State was atop the leaderboard at 18-under when played was stopped.

Jack Avrit is tied for 47th at 4-over with one hole left. Alejandro Gutierrez (t-63rd at 7-over) and Johnny Ward (t-88th at 16-over) round out the five-man team.

Five other Broncos are playing as individuals. Alex Conley and Zack Kaneshiro led the way at 1-under, which is tied for 16th.  

Oscar Zimmerman is tied for 26th at 1-over through 33 holes, Nolan Forsman is 46th at 4-over with three holes left and Konrad Brauckmeyer is tied for 63rd at 7-over with two holes remaining.
